The landscapes of New Brunswick hold quiet stories of the past, present, and what’s still to come. In these spaces—shaped by both human presence and the natural world—I feel a deep connection. Familiar places take on new meaning when seen through a curious lens as if I’m a tourist in my province.
One of the most inspiring days I’ve had was exploring Minister’s Island with my parents—a place layered with history and possibility. That experience opened my eyes to the richness of the everyday. This shift in perspective followed me to Irving Nature Park, a location I’ve visited many times but only recently began to experience differently. There, I began noticing the small details—crouching low, meeting nature at its level, and searching for light in quieter ways. Even the Old Burial Ground, which I pass through daily on my way to school, has become a place of reflection. What once felt like a shortcut now offers subtle beauty through each season.
In this series, I capture moments where light reveals time. Light begins the story; its absence conceals it. In quiet corners and overlooked details, I find echoes of the past and a stillness that anchors the present. The light invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and simply be.
I’m drawn to contrasts in nature—enduring trees beside fleeting moments, stillness alongside motion, life and death. These opposites fold into one another, telling a story of change and continuity. I often wonder what the trees, plants, insects, and even the walls around us would say if they could speak—what they’ve witnessed, and what remains unspoken.
Through my work, I aim to create a moment of stillness—a reason to slow down and reflect. A reminder to find beauty in the in-between and see the world with the same sense of wonder that I do.
